1
Course set for London,
A hold of souls and secrets.
I sail sunless seas.

2
Starvation haunts us,
The helmsman's death a mercy;
We eat well tonight.

3
From beneath dark waves,
A godly eye is watching.
We stare at false stars.

4
D---ed Pentecost Apes,
With uncivilised methods,
Have stolen my soul.

5
To trade horse for ship,
Was wise for the fallen Khan;
Though it made him less.
I'm doing NaPoWriMo again this year. I did a series of limericks the year before last, and managed to complete it, even if I did tend towards doing half a dozen at a time, rather than one per day. Last year, I tried haiku and ran out of inspiration pretty quickly.

This year, thanks to a spot of insomnia, I've picked up a theme and I'm running with it: haiku about the video game Sunless Sea. Stand by for lots of fragments of Victorian horror.
